Christmas magic exists in all of us. We all see Christmas magic differently and we all find it in different places.
The early morning hours of Christmas Day are some of my most treasured memories. The squeals of delight when Santa gets it just right. The excitement when kids see how many Christmas cookies Santa ate or if the reindeer ate any of the food left out for them. The stocking stuffers that stay consistent from year to year. The arrival of family members to celebrate and exchange gifts......
It is just MAGICAL MEMORY MAKING year after year.
Christmas looks different for every family and in our family, the magic of Christmas and the spirit of giving shines brightest on our annual trip to shop for our "Christmas Angels".
Each of the girls pick a tag off the Angel Tree at our church and they take complete ownership of that child. We always try to find each item on the list and make sure that that specific child has their wants/needs met and we can only hope that this makes them feel loved and that the magic of Christmas will continue to live in their heart all year. But this day of sponsoring these angels does so much within our hearts too. To be able to use our abundance to provide hope for others is something that we don't take for granted and it is just hard to put into words how we feel seeing Christmas magic come to life.
While we hustle and bustle to find the perfect gifts for our loved ones and we count and wrap and shop some more, it is our hope that you know that when you choose Yellow Stitch Boutique to shop for you loved ones this Christmas, you will also be helping to provide HOPE and Christmas magic for children.
Through my research for this mission, I found out that the angel tree tags are not actually lists from specific children but generic items that The Salvation army believes are needs/wants of children. The items purchased get set out for parents to come in and get items for their children. While I believe that is still a wonderful option for families, the Woeste girls wanted to get items that children specifically asked for.
We have partnered with school counselors, family liaisons, and teachers to adopt a few students in need who have Christmas lists.
The schools are sponsored by a number of organizations through the holiday season, but this year has been particularly hard for families AND for organizations. The numbers of children they are able to help has decreased and we are hoping to pick up some of those children who will not be sponsored this year.
When we were deciding on a mission for December, Lauren's initial idea was a toy drive. The more we discussed ideas, we decided that we would like for each child that we are able to help to get exactly what they WANT for Christmas.
In the month of December, instead of a toy drive or getting angel tree tags, we have teamed up with local schools to purchase items on the lists of children in need and these items will be delivered directly to the schools and they will deliver these gifts to the families so that Christmas magic will surround them!
We are so grateful that you continue to choose us to serve you so that we are able to serve others.
If you are interested in helping these students directly instead of angel tree tags, or toys for tots, we would be willing to provide you with a list of items to shop for as well. Anyone who purchases an item directly for these children will receive a code for 25% off their order and this 25% off can be used on our website OR on Presale items that are already discounted! That could be a lot of Christmas shopping!!! This would also ensure that your gifts to others are directly impacting children.
Or maybe, like us, you will choose to adopt one of these children and allow your own children to shop for one of their peers (anonymously).
For those of you who live outside of our community, we will be adding the option to add a tip to your invoice and if you choose to make a donation of $5.00 or more, we will also provide you with 25% off your next order. Every cent of your donation will be given to the funds we use to purchase the items for these children!
Our first goal is to sponsor a 3rd and 6th grade boy who belong to a family that is selfless, always volunteers and who have had a tragic fall/start to winter. The 3rd grade boy is wishing for a mountain bike and helmet and the 6th grade boy wishes for a pair of tennis shoes that are not from Wal-Mart and some nicer clothes. These items are EXACTLY what we were hoping to provide for these kids. Lauren, Makenna and Kate wanted to be able to give these kids their Christmas WISHES. They don't have to be needs.....we wanted to know what they are WISHING for so we can keep the magic of Christmas alive!
So, I will be posting presale items the next few weeks and I will have some sales TODAY for Giving Tuesday and $5.00 from each order, regardless of how much the order is, will be given by Yellow Stitch Boutique to provide these Christmas wishes for kids.
Also, for Giving Tuesday, any tips on invoices sent out will be MATCHED by Yellow Stitch Boutique to help our mission this month.
If you are interested in purchasing items on the lists of these children, please just shoot me a message or comment below and I will get you a few items to pick from!
Thank you for opening your hearts to this mission and for all of your constant support!
Happy Holidays to all of you!
