I received one of the highest compliments the other evening from one of our amazing customers.
We were sitting at a basketball game and it was a game where they honored breast cancer survivors and every player and participant wore pink. When I sat down to watch the game, a customer came up to tell me that when they were showing honor to some of the brave women who fought and won the battle with breast cancer a daughter was hugging her mom and it was an emotional event and that it made her think of Yellow Stitch Boutique and the missions that we adopt each month.
I was blown away by that and got tears in my eyes.
There really is no way that I could possibly tell you all how grateful we are for your support of our business. It is because of all of you that we are able to help these people each and every month and we hope that you all FEEL like you are helping too! I have heard from so many people that they appreciate these missions because it gives them ideas on how to spread God's love throughout the year in ways they didn't know of before!
These monthly missions are handpicked by my family each month. We receive many messages now asking for help or simply telling us of ideas and we very much appreciate it!
However, this month was picked by my older two girls.
As adults we often say, every person has a story. And when we think of this, it is often that we think of our fellow adults. This month, I challenge you to think a little differently.
I want you to put yourselves in the shoes of a teenager. In our hustle and bustle society, it is often that teenagers are left to fend for themselves. They are left at home while parents work or are out. Some are practically raising their younger siblings because parents are often not home or incapable of caring for their children. They are left picking up the pieces of a family falling apart because they are expected to "handle it better". They are going through so many transitions from being dependent to learning how to be independent. Being a teenager in society is HARD!
This month, Yellow Stitch boutique will be using 10% of every order to purchase meals for teens. We are partnering with a number of restaurants in our community to purchase prepaid gift cards, specifically for teenage kids, that will be given to our local high school/middle school counselors. These counselors will be able to use these gift cards whenever they see a student who may be going home for the weekend knowing they may not have food at home. The counselors will be able to aid these students even outside of school hours with these gift cards. One thing that I have learned from working with school staff, it is that they try to do as many things to help these students that it gets the aid into the hands of the students vs. the parents. This is to prevent parents from taking these things from the teachers/counselors and using it on themselves vs their children. These gift cards will be given DIRECTLY to the studetns. These restaurants are all within walking distance of our high schools or middle schools in case students are not able to drive.
You will be hearing about our incredible restaurant partners as the month goes on because they discounted these meals BIG TIME for this mission!!!!
We will also be giving you all the opportunity to purchase these prepaid meals for students. The restaurants have given us gift cards that provide a meal, a side, a drink and some even have included dessert for $5.00!!!!!!!!!
Those of you who choose to donate a meal will recieve 15% off your next order from Yellow Stitch Boutique AND for each meal purchased, you also get your name entered into our St. Patrick's Day Giveaway 2 times!
We will be doing things differently for this mission. I typically send/receive money on Paypal, however, because I have a business account on PayPal, it charges fees with each transaction. So for this particular mission, we are going to be collecting the donations either cash/check or Venmo so that we are able to use the entire donation without any fees taken out to provide more meals!
If you wish to donate directly to my Venmo, it is @Valerie-Woeste! If you wish to donate a cash/check donation, you can message me to find out a way that best serves you!
I can assure you that every penny will go back to our community!
